Spring Semester Starts Online

Given that Decree 484/2020 (XI.10.) on the second phase of protection measures to be applied in the event of an emergency is still in force, instead of the form of education requiring personal presence, the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE)  will start the 2020/21 spring semester on a digital platform.

For the University, which underwent an institutional model change on February 1 with multidisciplinary training areas, the spring semester is starting successfully with a total of 12,800 students starting or continuing their studies. Based on the data of the Office of Education, MATE is the third most popular Hungarian higher education institution in this year's cross-semester admission procedure with 544 admitted students.

In response to the challenges of teaching in the digital space, MATE has recently made significant IT improvements and organized trainings for educators on how to use the online platform.

In connection with the protection measures, the dormitories of the institution are currently closed, students staying in the dormitory can only use the accommodation for obligatory study purposes, internships and work, in compliance with the hygiene standards set out in the WHO recommendation. Both the students and the staff received the information about the rules in Hungarian and English, and the University pays special attention to monitoring their observance.

The management of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences constantly monitors the recommendations of the WHO, the National Center for Public Health, as well as the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the consular departments, and then acts upon the instructions of the National Center for Public Health.
